2010 Cleveland Reunion

It is with pleasure we provide you the latest CFAA news and updates following the 36th biennial reunion held this year in the welcoming city of Cleveland, Ohio. Those who were able to attend enjoyed the chance to connect with fellow members at our banquet, conduct research at the world class Western Reserve Historical Society, while of course letting their voices be heard with respect to important decisions affecting the future of our historic organization.  Despite the tough economy, our unique organization continues to thrive as folks seek to learn more about who they are and the pioneering Cooleys of our past.

The details of the many exciting decisions made at the business meeting can be reviewed by reading the Minutes posted on this site.  Also, photos of the Cleveland reunion as well as others are posted on the CFAA site for your viewing pleasure.

CFAA member and DNA Administrator, Dr. Greg Parker presented many interesting facts at our banquet dinner event.  It has been determined that beyond Benjamin, there are at least 12 other unique Cooley lines that have been tested here in the US.  It is the goal of this organization to improve the participation of the ‘non-Benjamin’ Cooleys and learn more about the history of these particular family lines.  Therefore, we we are strongly considering filling the ‘Second Vice-President’ slot with someone particularly focused on helping us reach out to this potentially large group.  With this growth, we hope to see many new and exciting connections emerge.

Immediate Past President Jay Smith provided great details on his great humanitarian work in Asia, and Roger and Lollie Cooley hosted a very enjoyable cocktail hour at their lovely home.  Many members also took advantage of visiting the impressive Crawford Auto Museum located adjacent to the Western Reserve Historical Society.  Feedback from attendees was very positive and we look forward to our next event in 2012!

Meanwhile, please don’t hesitate to contact CFAA President David Cooley if you have any suggestions or ideas that may add value to our organization’s efforts.
